Civil, Structural and Seismic Experience

Civil and structural engineering is pivotal in the development, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure projects including high voltage power projects such as AC substations, HVDC converter stations and transmission lines. Civil and structural engineering also plays a key role in sustainability by minimising environmental impact, reducing embodied carbon, and improving resilience.

Our engineers have been involved in the design of new substation buildings, equipment foundations, alterations, equipment supports, bus structures and gantries, transmission line structures (lattice and pole) and their foundations, cable trenching and termination structures, oil containment, acoustic enclosures, and the seismic review and strengthening of substation buildings. We understand the importance of sufficient detailing for constructability, durability, and maintainability. We also have extensive experience in providing on-site construction support to ensure designs are properly constructed to ensure long term performance and durability.

HV equipment is highly vulnerable to earthquake damage making the specification and verification of seismic performance critical in ensuring resilience of energy infrastructure in seismically active regions. Amplitude has extensive experience in the evaluation of seismic performance, including seismic qualification, of HV equipment.
